Every mother wishes the best for her children, and whether you agree or not, sometimes mothers do know what’s best for them. When it comes to their children’s safety, mothers can seem to gain supernatural powers, like lifting a car with their bare hands while their son is trapped underneath. The mother in this story, let’s call her Beth, wasn’t able to lift a car, but the burden she freed her son from felt just as heavy.
Being close to her son, Beth noticed small changes in his behavior, nothing someone who wasn’t close to him would notice. He dressed a little differently, the way he spoke had changed slightly, he seemed brighter, and he didn’t call her as often as he used to. Beth figured out that these subtle changes might be the influence of someone else, maybe someone special he had met? She grew excited but decided not to ask him about his love life, letting him be the one to tell her. The thought of her son falling in love made her happy. She sat back, kept observing the changes, and waited patiently.
Then the day finally came when Beth’s son invited her to dinner to introduce her to someone special. Beth couldn’t hide her excitement! Her son’s new girlfriend was very pretty, well-mannered, educated, social, with just the right amount of humor and she seemed nice. Despite all that, something felt strange. It was not so much the girlfriend in particular, Beth just had met her to be able to make such a judgment. It was rather her son who seemed different next to her. Maybe it was the way her son reacted when his girlfriend received the wrong order. The way he spoke to the waiter seemed a little bit off. Again not for someone who didn’t know him, but Beth knew her son very well and that was not how he would usually talk to someone who made a genuine mistake. Beth decided to not give much thought to it and enjoy the dinner with her son and his new girlfriend.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t the last time Beth saw changes in her son that she didn’t like. Her worry grew, and so did his ego and rudeness. Something was wrong, and when she tried to address it, he would end the conversation, insisting he hadn’t changed and that she was imagining things. Her son visited less often, and their conversations grew shorter and shorter. He was often tired and easily irritable. He seemed like a different person.
Beth decided she wouldn’t stand by and watch her son change for the worse, so she visited a witch who had helped her once before. She told the witch what was going on and asked if she could sense or detect anything strange. About her son or the new girlfriend. As soon as the witch started looking into the situation, she noticed a smell. She asked if her son was using a new perfume, to which Beth said no. The witch followed the scent. It led her from Beth’s son to the new girlfriend, and then to another coven. It seemed the girlfriend was using some kind of fragrance to make him fall in love with her. The girlfriend had a foul energy to her, and being around her for too long affected one’s energy. Hence also the changed behaviour Beth had observed with her son.
The witch prepared an herbal tea for Beth’s son that would block the fragrance and help him see and think clearly. It would take him a while to see the truth, but the witch assured Beth it would work. Her son would return to being himself — without a girlfriend.
