Sometimes the people closest to you can be the ones hurting you the most. The reasons are numerous, but they are particularly good at hurting you because they know you so well. And it hurts so much more being hurt by them.
This story is about two sisters and two completely different realities.
The older sister, let’s call her Sarah, had a young daughter who was sick. The doctors couldn’t figure out what she had, and Sarah got more and more worried with every doctor’s visit that brought no result. Not wanting to visit more doctors, she decided she would try something different: she would ask a witch for help.
There was a witch in her neighbourhood whom Sarah found out and decided to visit. She didn’t know what to expect and was a bit nervous. The witch seemed like a normal person, which made the visit more comfortable for Sarah. She told the witch about her worries about her daughter, that she was getting sick a lot. Fortunately, nothing too serious, but she was getting sick so often that Sarah started to get worried. And when the doctors couldn’t figure out what was going on, her worry grew. The witch listened quietly and then asked Sarah if she recalled the moment when she first thought something was off. Sarah thought about it and said yes. The witch told her that she needed to come back with her daughter, as the witch needed to see her as well to be able to help her. She then told Sarah to think about what exactly triggered her in that moment and let her know next time she came for a visit. Sarah was a bit confused about the next request, but she decided to do it and bring her daughter’s toy with her.
During the next visit Sarah seemed even more nervous. She was worried about her daughter and what could happen. The witch was very gentle with the daughter. She asked her a few questions about her wellbeing and complimented her doll. As soon as the daughter and mother started focusing on the doll, the witch could see clearly what was going on. She asked a few more questions about the doll to be able to see the bigger picture. And Sarah didn’t like what the witch saw. Her younger sister put a spell on the doll to make the daughter sick. Not too sick that she would suffer a lot, but sick enough to make the older sister worry herself sick.
The older sister didn’t want to believe it and left the witch’s house quite angry.
When she saw her sister a few days later, she told her about what rude things the witch had said about her. The way Sarah said it triggered the younger sister, and eventually she confessed. Sarah was shocked and at a loss for words. The younger sister disliked Sarah and how she made her feel like she wasn’t able to do anything as well as Sarah did. She wanted Sarah to feel the pain of feeling like a failure. She even went so far as to hurt Sarah’s daughter.
